Fabulous Food Recount

W.A.L.T-  Write a recount about your favorite meal.
Our  theme this week is about food and for our activity on Wednesday we had to write about our favorite meals we have had in the past. I really liked doing this and I thought I did a pretty good job at this. I hope you like it and please leave a comment for feedback and be sure to check out the rest of my blog.

Tomato Gnocchi

Mmmmm, tomato gnocchi, my favourite of all favourite foods. Sometime ago my mum made the best gnocchi dish ever, my sister and I got to help even. Firstly, my mum boiled the potatoes until soft then she added the rest of the ingredients and mixed it thoroughly.

Secondly after mixing it into a dough she then sprinkled flour on the bench and rolled a piece out to look like a snake and cut it into little pieces while showing my sister and I. After a long time of cutting little pieces off the dough she then let them sit while she made the sauce to go with it.

Finally the gnocchi was ready, I smelt the gnocchi from down the hallway and man it smelt soooooo gooooood. I rushed down the hallway before my mum could say “dinners ready’’ I then immediately served myself with the biggest serving of gnocchi. I quickly took a bite of the deliciousness I was about to eat. The taste filled my mouth with amazingness, the sweet flavored, acidic, sour flavored, or balanced tomato the creamy gnocchi, the salty olives and the flavour of the spices mixed through the dish.

   The best food ever.

Our Timetable Change

In our Kotuku team, our teachers have decided to change our timetable to make things less stressful and to make learning more fun for us. Along with our timetable we will be learning about themes, so next weeks theme is going to be Ocean/Sea. We will be learning about that in our different subjects by doing, science project and reading/writing about it. Most people were pleased to see our timetable change, as was I, I can't wait to get into our new system of learning at school!
Be sure to check out the rest of the blog and leave feedback!

Our themes for the rest of the year

Circumference and Diameter

W.A.L.T-  investigate the pattern between a circular object's circumference and its diameter.
For the past week, room 9A math have been learning about Pi, Circumference and Diameter. We had to get a piece of string and measure a circular object and then get a metre ruler and measure it, the circumference is the area/outside of the circle and the diameter is the width, we then had to divide the measurements together. However the answers all had to be the same, therefor that's how Pi comes into the equation, the first couple numbers of Pi are 3.14159 and every circle no matter how big has to start with those numbers, well at least numbers close to Pi.
I really enjoyed doing this activity and I hope to do something like this again, though I found it hard to get the exact measurements of the circles and messed up with some of the measurements.
I hope you enjoy and be sure to check out the rest of my blog and leave feedback!

Fibonacci Sequence

W.A.L.T-  Recognize Fibonacci numbers in nature.

Fibonacci numbers are 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21 ect. You get those numbers by starting with 0 & 1 add those two together and you get 1, 1+1= 2, 2+1= 2, 3+2= 5 and so on that's how the pattern works. This will create patterns in fruits, veges and plants. When growing off the branch, Fibonacci can be viewed in their stems and veins. The more they grow out the higher the sequence is. Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician an was considered to be 'the most talented Western mathematician in the middle ages' the name Fibonacci was made up in 1838 and short for filius Fibonacci.

Reflection: I found it hard to find the pattern in the numbers at first but I soon got it in the end. I also really enjoyed doing this.

Buddy Writing!

On Tuesday for writing we went to our buddy class and shared our writing! And if we were finished we could write a story with our buddy. Me and my buddy wrote a story about going on a boat to Antarctica and being the only kid on the boat! I really enjoyed doing this activity and I hope to do it again! Be sure to leave feedback and check out the rest of my blog!

Here is my writing!

MY BIG TRIP TO ANTARCTICA
On Tuesday, I went on a big ship that was called The Humongous Ship that took me to Antarctica! The ship was 20 stories high and it had a whole deck that had two bunnies in it, and it had a big lollipop forest in it! It also had a pool table that was 200m long. It took us 4 weeks to get to Antarctica,. I felt excited and shy on the boat, I was the only kid on board. I saw lots of penguins and seals even big icebergs! As soon as I got off the boat I ran into the snow and made a heated igloo, I also made 20 snowmen because I was bored. I felt hot because I so many layers of jerseys and jackets. It was really windy!

My Mosaic Art

W.A.L.T- We are learning to do make a mosaic digital art for our calendar art.
I really enjoyed making doing this and I'm currently doing another one because I really like it. I chose to do one of my favorite animals a Giraffe. We did it on google drawings, got a picture off the internet then used poly line to make little shapes to trace over the picture and then delete the picture afterwards. I hope you like it and feel free to comment or check out the rest of my blog.

School Cluster Logo

W.A.L.T- create a logo to represent our school cluster using google drawing or a logo design site.
I really enjoyed making this logo and use my creative juices. I found it hard though to come up with the colors of the background because each color has a meaning, but that's in my explanation on why I did the logo. I hope you like it!

I did this because I feel it represents us moving or following the path of learning together because our cluster means 'the path to discover'. The koru is us growing up and following the journey of learning and knowledge. The stars represent Matariki, a new year and a fresh start for the way we learn now. The colours in the background, blue and purple, mean: confidence and knowledge.
(I drew the koru myself - I wanted it to fade in along with the background but I couldn't make it do this)

Be sure to check out the rest of my blog and leave feedback!
