W.A.L.T- investigate the pattern between a circular object's circumference and its diameter.
For the past week, room 9A math have been learning about Pi, Circumference and Diameter. We had to get a piece of string and measure a circular object and then get a metre ruler and measure it, the circumference is the area/outside of the circle and the diameter is the width, we then had to divide the measurements together. However the answers all had to be the same, therefor that's how Pi comes into the equation, the first couple numbers of Pi are 3.14159 and every circle no matter how big has to start with those numbers, well at least numbers close to Pi.
I really enjoyed doing this activity and I hope to do something like this again, though I found it hard to get the exact measurements of the circles and messed up with some of the measurements.
